Connectivity tips for Dominican Republic
Fill in the free e-ticket at eticket.migracion.gob.do between 72 and 24 hours before each flight. Screenshot the QR code; the form is needed on the way out too.
Hurricane season is June to November. Coastal towers can drop for hours, so keep offline copies of bookings, boarding passes and the hotel address.
Uber works in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. Resort lobbies block UberX pickups, so walk to the main gate, and expect an airport surcharge at PUJ.
Keep the phone out of sight on the Malecón at night and in Santo Domingo traffic, where snatchings from motorbikes happen at red lights.
Prices in the resort zone are quoted in US dollars, in pesos in town. A currency app on data saves you a bad rate at the beach.
Download the offline map of the whole island. Addresses outside the capital are landmarks, not street numbers, and the Samaná mountain roads have no signal.

Can you rely on free Wi-Fi?
