Can you rely on free Wi-Fi?
Wireless@SGx is free at Changi, every MRT station, malls and libraries, but it needs a one-time registration and a login, and it drops between hotspots. Hotels and cafés are reliable. Do not plan a day around it.
Local SIM card or eSIM in Singapore?
Tourist SIMs from Singtel, M1 and StarHub are sold at the Changi arrival halls and at convenience stores, typically S$12 to S$30 for 100 GB over 14 to 28 days, with local call minutes included. On price per gigabyte they are hard to beat.
Every prepaid SIM is registered in person against your passport, foreigners are limited to a few SIMs each, and the counter queue at Changi is longest exactly when your flight lands. Is 5G included?
Yes, where the host network has 5G and your phone supports it. Singapore has near-complete 5G coverage in the city, and 4G LTE fills any gaps.
Can I use Personal Hotspot in Singapore?

Should I install the eSIM before or after landing?

Can I make calls and use WhatsApp with a Singapore eSIM?

Is a local SIM better than an eSIM in Singapore?
On price per gigabyte, tourist SIMs at Changi are very cheap. They need in-person passport registration at a counter, and the plastic card has to be swapped in. When should I install my eSIM?
Before you travel, while you still have Wi-Fi. Installing does not start your plan; the validity typically starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.
Do FairSIM eSIMs come with a phone number?
