Check your model

eSIM works on iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and every newer model, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation).
It doesn't work on iPhone X, iPhone 8 or older.
Check where your phone was sold
iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao may not have eSIM.
- Open the Phone app keypad.
- Dial
*#06# - If you see EID, your phone has eSIM. If you see no EID, it doesn't.
Mainland China: only iPhone Air, 17e, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max have eSIM. Add your FairSIM eSIM after you leave mainland China.
Check for a carrier lock
Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock
- "No SIM restrictions" means you're good.
- If it shows a carrier name, your phone is locked. Ask your carrier to unlock it. It's often free once the phone is paid off.
